Presentation: Berea Ben Garden of Hope

The Berea Ben Garden of Hope, located at 107th and Hampton in Milwaukee, is this month’s mission. Founded by their late brother and master gardener “Berea Ben” Heckert, the purpose of the garden is to grow fresh and nutritious foods for organizations designed to help feed the hungry and hurting such as the Milwaukee Christian Center, Guest House and Team Challenge.

As the garden is run solely by volunteers, we are hoping to schedule work days in July and August, so please stay tuned as dates are solidified. In the meantime, mark your calendar for Sunday, June 29, as Joanie Kolton (Berea’s Family Connections Director), will speak for a short time following worship. She also graciously offered to provide a garden tour in the afternoon for anyone interested in seeing their site and/or getting their hands dirty later this summer—all for a great cause!

To fill the time between Bible study (10:15 am) and the garden tour (12:30 pm), the Board of Stewardship will be providing lunch for anyone who would like to tour Berea’s garden. If you would like to join us, (which we hope you do!), please sign up in the entryway so we know how many to plan for! All ages are welcome!
